Our Story

 Robert Peacock’s quest for finding unusual specimens, especially those that would tolerate shade, became an obsession during his years of work as a landscaper grown weary of planting the same old plants. In the early 90’s he began propagating from collecting seeds, cuttings, and plants acquired from botanical gardens, overseas sources, and other specialty growers. He is now a full-time grower and plant collector and nurseryman. In 2001 Robert and his husband Marty Waldron found a beautiful early 19th century farm property adjacent to the Laguna de Santa Rosa open space preserve west east of Sebastopol, located among West Sonoma County’s heritage Gravenstein apple orchards and antique stores and wineries. The unique two-acre nursery with meandering paths, garden rooms, and planted garden beds allows visitors to visualize interesting plant combinations as they might appear in one’s own garden.

The retail nursery now features:

  • A wide variety of unusual, hard-to-find plants.

  • Caters to both serious collectors and casual gardeners.

  • Diverse selection including succulents, cactus, ferns, palms, trees, shrubs, Australian plants and more

  • Plants suited for Northern California climates

  • Shady area with shade-loving plants - Podophyllum ‘Spotty Dotty’, Schefflera delavayi and Conigramme Golden Zebra are few of my current favorties.

  • An indoor shop featuring houseplants, artisan pottery, Air plants, bromeliads, African baskets, rough stones and gems

  • Unfortunately, we are not able to ship plants.

  • We apologize, but we do not have public restrooms available for customers.
